San Diego band Mrs. Magician does a streetwise take on 60s-pop. They’ve got the song below – the swingin’ “The Spells” – coming out on a 7″ from Loud And Clear Records in March. (Via Get Off The Coast)

Catholic Spray

The Paris-based Catholic Spray continue to feed my lo-fi trash rock fetish. Do not/definitely watch this video while high on hallucinogens (though I don’t advocate the use of hallucinogens…just saying…if you’re doing them already…). Also, if you’re prone to seizures, you might want to skip this.

Campfires

Chicago-based lo-fi experimental/mildly-psychedelic artist Campfires is the dude who told Altered Zones about the incredible Sybille Baier. His own stuff isn’t really folksy (maybe a little Woods-y), its got its own weird vibe.

Melted Toys

San Fran synth-popsters Melted Toys play the kind of VHS-colour-fuzz lo-fi pop my beloved Altered Zones have been big into of late (Joe Ferrari, Outer Limits Recording) except they’re a little more straightforward. Maybe they’re already coming down from the collective musical 80s-on-acid trip others in the area appear to be enjoying.  They’ve got an EP coming out later this month called the Washed and Dried EP. The song below made me curious as to the soundz of said EP…perhaps said band should mail me a copy so I may write more about it… (Via The Aforementioned Website)
