So this isn’t really new in terms of its release date but I just discovered some more cool shoegaze music coming out of Brooklyn (who’d have ever expected that, right?) And they’re calleddddd….SIGHT SEEING! Apparently they’re working on a full-length right so now that’ll be cool when it drops I suppose.

The bedroom dream-pop project of San Diego’s Nacho Cano, Twin Cabins, is a most delightful source of pleasure to the ears.
Are Japandroids angsty? Or just awesome? Maybe they’ve got like a little angst, but it’s not like teen angst, it’s like post-teen angst – right? You know what I mean? Whatever – new track is out from those guys off their upcoming sophomore album Celebration Rock, the overdue follow-up to the excellent Post-Nothing.
“The House That Heaven Built” is – unless “the house that ‘x’ built” is at thing – a nod to the opening track off The Wrens‘ masterpiece Meadowlands, “The House That Guilt Built”. The difference between it and that song is primarily that Japandroids are still singing about hope and kicking ass – “and if they try to slow you down/tell em alllll, go to hell!” – whereas The Wrens are very sad and bitter and all. There’s like of shouting and chanting and rocking out, so yeah, sounds like most Japandroid songs. What can we expect of the next album? Hopefully a bunch of these, nothing wrong with making another album like the first, but then they might have to change things up.
My never ending (and largely fruitless) search for good Israeli music continues. I don’t know if it’s just me but I think I’ve actually been seeing more Israeli stuff online than usual – unfortunately, like, none of it is any good either. Except for the stuff I just heard from electronic-friendly Tel Aviv songstress Rotem Or recently. It’s pretty good.
Israeli bands and musicians: send me your stuff! And you guys should sing more in Hebrew, you’re hardly ever as good in English, especially when you try and hide your accents. Why has there not been like an Israeli answer to Dungen, who sound uber cool because they sing in a weird, strange-sounding language – you guys would be perfect for that! Go up to Safed and give some Kabalists some guitars and drums and record what happens. Seriously. That’d be awesome.
One of the dudes in Deerhunter – Colin Mee, specifically – is in this crazy cosmic band Hollow Stars. They’re kind of lame, but also kind of cool, in like a weird lame-cool way. You’ll see what I mean.

Hey kids, this is a fun tune from Brooklyn’s lo-fi homeless (but not actually) dream-poppers Tyburn Saints. They’re a bit darker than this track usually but this is the one the promo company sent over.
San Antonio’s Aural Burrows makes homey lo-fi synth-y indie-rock/pop. I’ve been told he is on the label Housewarming Records, run by a dude named Erik, who is supposedly a really nice guy. (Via Acres)
