Been hanging in Brooklyn for the last couple days and man, I just love it here. I so hope I can live here for a while when I get back from Israel. It’s like…amazing.

Anyways, of course I’ve been finding out about some uber cool bands, this place is like exploding with great bands and music (and I saw OFF‘s Keith Morris in Academy Records yesterday, which was cool). Brooklyn’s poppy shoegazers Desert Stars were playing last night but we missed their set. Oh well.

This weird dude from New York Gary War seems to be getting some buzz from cool peeps. He’s not bad…

Apparently one of the No Fear Of Pop writers found this dude Helmut playing dark, melancholic tunes on the streets of Berlin the other day and was digging it. Well, thanks to the wonders of the internet, I am now digging it too (via No Fear Of Pop)

New York-based experimental/freak-folk artist (and recent college grad) Hemlock Shaw has released a most interesting album called Tidal Tracks. Here are some tracks off it.

You’d think a band named after a Joseph Campbell concept and with songs called “Hesse” and “Hiroshima” wouldn’t be so enjoyable, but you’d be wrong. Halifax’s Monomyth make very noisy, borderline shoegaze-y garage rock and no pretentious titles can get in the way of them hooks. (via Weird Canada)

Yesterday I was walking around Washington D.C. with my friend the Puntshnauser and we came across storied local record store Crooked Beat. We went in and asked if there were any cool local bands that haven’t quite gotten the word out beyond the city and we were told that local hardcore types Mobius Strip would fit that description. And yeah, they’re pretty deece.

These guys DUDES are a bunch of weird dudes from LA. But the shit’s pretty crazy. In an awesome way. (via Portals)

Toronto indie-punks Daze Daze And The Siamese Grave are pretty deece – you can see them play their first show tonight at Nocturne
