With the release of latest single “Rattlesnake”, Newfoundland’s whispery, bedroom dream-pop artist Fog Lake is startin’ the buzz up for a cross-Canada tour next week and a new full-length in the fall. I was over at Academy Records today (my “happy place”/my wallet’s unhappy place) and they tossed this album by Chris Forsyth and the Solar Motel Band on for a bit, since they apparently just got it in and the band is playing at Trans-Pecos tonight…or just cause they felt like it. Anyway. I was feeling it. They had the vinyl on the wall with a note comparing it to a cross between Television and the Grateful Dead and I was like “Yes! That’s what it is! This band is just the Television jams and nothing else!” Actually, it works pretty well. Those jamz were tight.

My fellow Torontonian Jason Collett released an album last month called Song and Dance Man – I didn’t even know until now! The title track (which you can hear in the video above) is a wonderful little tune about sticking it out as a musician in the digital age.
