Cannon Bros.

Winnipeg’s Cannon Bros. are finally putting out a follow-up to their incredible 2011 album Firecracker Cloudglow (which we wrote about here). The new LP is called Dream City and it drops October 9th via Disintegration Records. According to Exclaim, the band took “the Guided By Voices approach” and recorded a whole bunch of short songs. From the sounds of it, they went for a bit of a lo-fi thing as well. But if first single “Can’t Sleep” is anything to go by, the band’s writing is still as sharp and catchy as ever.

Six piece Toronto dream-pop peeps Mune just ¬†unleashed this cool song via Exclaim. It’s off an album called Falling Through that they’re dropping June 6th. Not only is my longtime peer Eytan Tobin a member of the band, but their album was produced by another great Toronto indie scene fixture, Beliefs/Candle Recording‘s Josh Korody. With a cast like that you just can’t go wrong.

Have You Heard The New…Fucked Up?

My beloved Fucked Up are going to be releasing this new “I Hate Summer” split 7″ on Bruise Cruise Records, and it’ll be given away to those attending the Bruise Cruise Festival that’s going down in February aboard a large boat.

The song itself is pretty lightweight – short, fast, got some hooks in there, lo-fi production. Clearly they didn’t go in with the kind of budget or ambition they did for David Comes Alive, but I don’t think anyone could really blame them – that album¬†was pretty epic. Anyways, it’s enjoyable, so enjoy it. They also made a cute little Christmas video promo for the Bruise Cruise thing that they’re headlining (see above).

Oh, and what’s on the other side of the split? A song by Detroit garage-rockers The Dirtbombs. Who are pretty awesome and will also be playing Bruise Cruise. (via Exclaim)
